Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

This seems cliche but the greatest gift I have ever received is my daughter. Outside of getting married having our first child has been an incredible source of joy and sublimity. And just like marriage it is filled with challenges and uncertainties, but it has deeply transformed my person. I was the quintessential puer aeternus, living a provincial life. Surfing and smoking weed were my past times and ambitions. When my wife came into my life, I was ready for something more. She provided me the stability I needed to grow. She gave me the impetus to progress. But it wasn’t till I held my daughter that a different type of ambition arose in me. The responsibility of parenthood is the greatest gift. There are so many paradoxes in raising a child. Listing them all would not be reasonable. With deep roots comes a broader, fuller crown.
