Harpocrates

Daily writing prompt
Are you superstitious?

I genuinely would like to answer this prompt with a resounding, NO! but this would not be a fair self-assessment on my part. I both in secret and overtly carry out superstitious acts all the time. One of the more notable is on the idea of discretion. If I am working on a project, I try not to share it with others. If I have a plan I want to actualize, I keep it to myself. Practically, it is because I feel I prematurely let the heat out. More spiritually, I believe the devil is always listening. Ha. An example would be trying to give up using tobacco. As soon as I would tell someone of my plan, I experience the most stressful day imaginable. I then turn to my habit for recourse. Or I feel excited about some project I am working on. I explain it to a friend. Suddenly when I return to my work, all the momentum is lost. I would share more but risk losing the defense found in Silence!

I completely understand that. Some passions and projects are best kept personal, allowing them to grow without external influence.
